Quests & Categories
Quest Categories
As mentioned earlier, a quest is a specific task or mission assigned to users, designed to achieve a certain goal. Each quest is associated with a category, which helps define its purpose and context. Categories are typically linked to the provider associated with the quest, such as social media platforms or custom in-game systems.
Social Media Quests
Social media quests are tied to specific providers, such as YouTube, TikTok, or X (formerly Twitter). To enable quests for a particular provider, creators must authorize their Makers Hub accounts through an OAuth integration. This ensures that the required data can be fetched securely and in compliance with privacy standards.
What is OAuth? OAuth (Open Authorization) is a secure way to grant limited access to your social account without sharing your login credentials. For example, it allows the platform to verify your account and interact with it as needed for quests.
Examples of Social Media Quest Categories:
- YouTube Quests: tasks like analyzing video statistics, liking videos, or subscribing to channels.
- TikTok Quests: encourages users to like, share, or comment on videos.
- X Quests: includes following specific accounts, retweeting posts, or engaging with tweets.
- Steam Quests: includes actions like wishing for a game, owning a game, or reaching specific levels.
Other Social Media providers will be added in the nearest future!
By integrating these quests, users can seamlessly interact with external platforms while staying engaged in your ecosystem.
Customized Quests
Beyond social media quests, there are customized quests, which fall under the PlayMakers category. These quests are fully tailored to your game environment, store, or specific metrics. They provide a flexible way to design challenges that align directly with your game’s objectives and user experience.
Examples of Customized Quest Categories
- In-Game Challenges: encourage players to complete specific in-game objectives, such as collecting resources or defeating bosses.
- Store Engagement Quests: reward users for interacting with your in-game store, like purchasing specific items or unlocking upgrades.
- Metrics-Based Quests: track user activity, such as time spent in-game, levels completed, or achievements unlocked.
