Quest Management

Efficient management of quests is essential for engaging users and maintaining a dynamic questing system. This guide outlines how to create, modify, and manage quests using the Studio Dashboard.

Studio Dashboard

The Studio Dashboard is the central hub for all quest-related activities. Through this interface, studios can easily create, modify, and oversee quests to ensure a seamless experience for users.

Steps to Create a Quest

Creating a quest involves a straightforward process accessible from the dashboard. Follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Quests Section

  • Log into the Studio Dashboard.
  • Locate and click on the "Quests" section from the main menu.
  • Select the option to initiate a new quest setup "Create New Quest"

3. Define Quest Details

Fill in the required fields for the quest:

  • Category/Provider: assign the platform or provider (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, X, Steam, PlayMakers, etc.).
  • Quest Type: choose the type of quest (e.g., follow a user, like a video, fetch stats, etc.).
  • Entry Values: specify any thresholds or conditions (e.g., minimum likes, keywords, or engagement metrics).
  • Maximum Completion Limit: set the maximum number of times the quest can be completed.
  • Prerequisites: add conditions that must be met before users can access this quest (Completing another quest first).
  • Add quest name & description, review all details and click Publish button to publish the quest.

Modifications to Quests

Once a quest is created, it can be adjusted to meet changing requirements, but there are limitations depending on its status:

Before Completion

  • Quests that have not been completed by any user can be freely modified.
  • Changes can include adjusting entry values, prerequisites, or content(name or description).

After Completion

  • Quests that have been completed at least once cannot be edited further.
  • These quests can only be marked as "Closed", which removes them from active visibility while preserving their records.

Quest Customization

Maximum Completion Limit

Each quest can have a maximum completion limit to ensure fairness and maintain its relevance. This limit can prevent excessive task repetition and keep rewards balanced.

Prerequisites

Certain quests may require users to complete other quests first. This sequential approach adds depth to the quest system and encourages sustained engagement.

Example
  • Quest 1: watch a Game Trailer on YouTube
  • Quest 2: leave a Comment on the Trailer (unlocked only after completing Quest 1)

Periodic Behaviour

Quests can be set to reset periodically, such as on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. This allows for ongoing engagement by encouraging users to return regularly and complete new tasks for fresh rewards. Periodic quests can also introduce dynamic challenges based on time, ensuring users have always something to look forward to.

Custom Categories

For customized quest categories, integration with your APIs enables unique and context-specific challenges. Examples include:

  • Fetching in-game statistics based on user activity.
  • Verifying level completion or specific milestones.
  • Rewarding points for achieving gameplay objectives.
